Since Obama has become president it seems like many African Americans are putting all their eggs into one basket. Obama is not the savior of the black race. He is just the beginning. Not that I’m trying to undermine anything he stands for. I believe he is truly looking to change American for all people but he is just one man. Like Bryon Pitts said, "We have to stop thinking just because ONE makes "it" we ALL make "it". Obama has overcome tremendous obstacles and rose to the occasion. What have you done today? Did you wake up and prepare for the day or did you just text and play around? Did you get up and thank God for people like Obama and Martin Luther King? Or did you play Rockbound? Everyday that you live you need to make a effort to bring about some change into the world you live in.
Do you know why most white people don’t like Obama? It's because they believe that we as African Americans will blindly follow Obama just because he is black. And I hate to say it but it is somewhat true some people didn’t find out anything about this man but just voted for him because he was black. Now in this case that was okay because he is the best man for the job but that shouldn't stop you from becoming a critical thinker. We live in a world with unlimited resources so there should be a healthy thirst of knowledge for everyone who is running for office. Al Shaprton told Bryson Pitts "Everyone that is your color aint your kind". Now I never thought I'd learn a lesson from a 50 year old man with a perm but he is absolutely right. There are plenty of wolfs in sheep clothing that will use your ignorance to get ahead in life. BET is full of them. Know that today is not the end of the struggle it's the beginning.
